About Bangladesh GIS Atlas
Bangladesh GIS Atlas is a print-ready cartography workspace prepared by Al Jubaer. It stitches together open geospatial layers from BBS Census 2022, LGED, RHD, BWDB, and HDX into a single, unified atlas covering the entire country from division down to village level.
What's inside
- Administrative boundaries — 8 divisions, 64 districts, ~495 upazilas, 590 union files, 590 village files.
- Full LGED road symbology — National, Regional, Zila, Upazila, Union (Pucca/Katcha), Village A & B (Pucca/Katcha).
- Wide rivers, waterbodies, and RHD waterway lines.
- Facility points — Growth Centres, rural markets, hospitals, Upazila Health Complexes, Family Welfare Centres, community clinics, post offices, colleges, schools, madrasas, mosques, graveyards, playgrounds, fire stations, factories, mobile towers.
- Disaster overlays — HDX flood-risk zones, flood-prone area outlines, cyclone shelters.
- Bilingual titles (English + বাংলা) on print sheets.
How maps are made
Each print sheet is generated by a Python cartography pipeline that reads the source GeoJSON/shapefile, clips it to the requested admin unit, and renders it with matplotlib using LGED-matching styles, a north arrow, scale bar, RF, latitude/longitude graticule, and a full legend. A3 sheets auto-orient (portrait vs landscape) based on the shape of the boundary.
Membership model
Anyone can browse the online atlas at /map.php. Print, PDF download and PNG export are Premium-only. Guest and free-tier views carry an Al Jubaer watermark; Premium exports are clean.
